Steve "Pogo" Mayer

(My Brother-in-Law, the Pilot)

Steve learned to fly in taildraggers, ferrying skydivers up to altitude. On some of his early approaches, he'd have to stop short to pull the branches out of his wheels before taxiing up to the ramp. Steve was a jump instructor before he became a pilot, so he has more takeoffs in airplanes than landings. However, he is making up for that flying his newly acquired Cessna 180; he now has dozens of landings for nearly every approach. Steve flies out of Gonzales, Louisiana and recently coaxed his airplane over Louisiana's Mt. Driscoll, some 500' MSL, without oxygen!
